Seppineau Kennels

Seppineau Kennels was operated by Gary and Gwel Egelston, first of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and then of Lee's Summit, Missouri. In much the same way that Jeffrey Bragg started out with Tadluk, Regd. and metamorphosed into Markovo Kennels when he began breeding pure Seppalas, the Egelstons began with Manahtok Kennels breeding a mixture of Natomah and Seppala strain, but began using the Seppineau affix when they committed themselves to a pure Seppala breeding programme.

Seppineau acquired a McFaul male, Vanka of Seppala (3rd) formerly owned by Dr. Earl Sprunger of Iowa. They purchased a female from Mildred Morton, Willi-Waw's Gale of Cupid, and a sister of Lyl of Sepsequel, Moka of Sepsequel. At least two of their litters were sired by Ch. Mikiuk Tuktu Tornyak, a long-coated fox-red male out of Bryar bloodlines owned in the midwest by [Dr. E. Rule Olson]. Egelstons also acquired Malamak's Okleasik from Bragg. About ten pure Seppala litters were bred in the ten-year history of the kennel.

Although the role of Seppineau was secondary to that of Markovo Kennels in the rescue of the Leonhard Seppala strain from impending extinction, nevertheless the Egelstons' contribution was crucial. Today's Seppala Siberian Sleddog lineage would be much the poorer without the Seppineau bloodlines contributed by such individuals as Karcajou's Dreama of Windigo.
